Reading

Here is the Reading lesson today for children in Mrs Pemberton's reading group Save the Whale Reading lesson 2

Here are the questions from  "Save the Whale" for you to read and then write down your answers. Don't forget to look back in the book (in the video) to check or get your answers.

1. How many whales are in a pod?

2. How old can a humpback whale be?

3. Which waters do humpback whales swim in?

4. What do baby humpback whales drink?

5. Where can you find out more about humpback whales?

Spellings

This weeks spellings ly words

Read through the spellings to check the children can read them. Discuss that adding -ly on to the end of a word changes it into an adverb which describes how something is done

We might use adverbs in our instructions to give more detail to how we do something

Bitesize - adverbs - Watch the clip and complete the tasks to help the children understand adverbs 

Can the children look back at the instructions they wrote last week, could they add an adverb to any of the instructions to improve them?

Now can you write some instructions for younger children telling them what they need to do to keep themselves clean. What do they need? What should they do? Don't forget those imperative verbs and maybe even some adverbs.
