Today we planned how we are going to change our Aladdin story, below are the changes we are going to make:

We are all going to set the next story in a rainforest.

You can change the name of Aladdin if you want to? Who will you choose as your main character?

You can change where the merchant comes from, where will your merchant be from?

You can change what the magical object will be, instead of a lamp, what will you choose?

What will your new story title be?

Now can you have a go at saying the Aladdin story with your changes to help you when you come to write it, tomorrow

R.E

Today we started a new unit in RE, thinking about how we should care for others and the world. First we talked about how we think we should care for others and the world. Then we looked at what Jesus taught in the bible about how to care for others by reading and acting out the "Good Samaritan" Religious Studies KS1: The Christian Story of the Good Samaritan and the Lost Sheep - BBC Teach Watch this and tell someone at home - what the stories teach us about how we should care for others

Work for children isolating

Monday

Spellings - Look at your spellings above - how many silly sentences can you make using the words? Can you show the people at home how we play quickwrite?

Reading - Write a summary of what has happened so far in Flat Stanley

Today we have been looking at our Aladdin story. Trying to spot the sentences that start with adverbs and also trying to spot the inverted commas. Can you? Show someone at home how much you have learned by heart - they'll be amazed!

Then we started looking at the different parts of Aladdin and what makes it a wishing tale. Can you tell someone at home the opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending for Aladdin? This might help.

P.E - this afternoon we have the Doncaster Rovers coaches in doing Athletics, perhaps you could have a look at the different throwing techniques and see what you have in your garden to practise these? If not maybe choose a Cosmic Yoga session to do instead.

Homework week beginning 27th June

Here are the spellings for next week

Maths Homework
The children are loving TT Rocktstars at school at the moment and are all making progress with their times tables so use this week to allow the children to work on their multiplication or division facts for whatever number they are on at school. You can either use TT Rocktstars or Hit the Button to help them get quicker and more fluent.

Homework week beginning 13th June

The children should have brought home spellings on Friday to learn this week, based on the assessments I did with them last week. The test will be on Friday as usual. Let me know if you don't have these. They will get another copy to work on at school on Monday.

Maths Homework

I have set another Measures homework, in school we have moved from looking at length and height to weight/mass. Before we then move on to capacity/volume and then finally temperature.

The children are doing brilliantly with their times tables at school. Feel free to keep working on these at home too. Ideally the children should know the 10, 2 and 5 times tables by the end of Year 2.

School Trip

Thank you to everyone who has brought in the permission slip and/or have paid for our upcoming visit to Lotherton Hall. If you haven't, don't worry, you have until the end of the week.

We chose Lotherton Hall to enhance our Geography (Brazil) and Science (animals) work. As part of the day we will be having a workshop on Rainforests so if your child wants to start doing some research on Rainforests feel free. I'm more than happy to take a class full of experts!

Homework week beginning 6th June

There will be no maths facts or spellings to learn this week. I am going to use this week to see which spellings the children still know, so that they can confidently spell these words in their writing (as well as getting them right when I test them on Fridays).

My Maths Homework

I have set some homework based on the measures work we have done and will continue to do this half term.

Other things to do at home (if you wish)

Why don't you see what you can find out about Brazil, ready for our Geography topic?

Or

In Art, we will be looking at some of Henri Rousseau's work - can you find out anything about him or look at some of his art work and see if you can do your own version?
