Weekly English Tasks (plus daily reading)
Reading Comprehension - Understanding social distancing (3 Star is the most appropriate level)
Spellings - Common exception words
For the rest of this half term I would like the children to recap the set of tricky words it is expected for their year group to be able to spell by the end of the year. This is a chance to not only recap spellings but also work on handwriting too. Each week I would suggest a child does 1 page each from the booklets
Weekly Wider Curriculum Tasks
Geography - Which animals can you find in hot or cold countries? Use this hot and cold animals mat to help you discuss this. Why might those animals live in hot or cold countries? Discuss and research as needed. Once the children feel confident ask them to do this sorting activity
DT - Skills - Before you make your product you need to practice the skills you will need to make it so that you can do the best job possible
1)Think about how you are going to stick things together? Glue? Tape? Blu-tac? Staples? Have a try at sticking 2 materials together using different sticky things. Which works best? Which will you use when you make your product?
2)How is your cutting? Have a try. Try cutting out some pictures or ask someone to draw some straight and wavy lines and see if you can follow the lines with your scissors.
French
This is your chance to recap the colour names and talk to people at home about colours. Here is a song to help you remember how to say some of them
Picture News - Virtual assembly 22nd June
Story: Following a three-month closure period, Chester Zoo and many other zoos have been allowed to reopen.
Question: Should zoos have been allowed to reopen earlier?
RE Ongoing Task
We would like you to learn more about the Churches in your local area.
What are they called? How are they the same and how are they different?
Think about why they are special to some people. Talk to people who have been inside to find out more about what is the same and different inside and why that might be.
Can you work out what all or most Churches seem to have?
You could also research 1 or more of the Churches and find about their history
or even do some Art or DT work inspired by them.
