Summer Half Term 2 Week 2

Weekly Maths Tasks

and don't forget

⭐TT Rockstars
⭐ Hit the Button
⭐ Learning to tell the time

Weekly English Tasks (plus daily reading)

(These are 2 week units of work so are a continuation from last week)

Reading Comprehension - Children should be working on the 3 star question sheet unless they are finding the reading difficult in which case 2 stars would be more appropriate

Spellings  - Common exception words
For the rest of this half term I would like the children to recap the set of tricky words it is expected for their year group to be able to spell by the end of the year. This is a chance to not only recap spellings but also work on handwriting too. Each week I would suggest a child does 1 page each from the booklets

Weekly Wider Curriculum Tasks

Geography - read through the Hot and Cold Countries PP then colour the cold countries blue and the hot countries orange  on the blank world map or if you don't have a printer point them out on a blank world map

Science - The Environment Reuse Reduce Recycle PP
Read through the PowerPoint and learn about the 3Rs, this will help you with the DT project for this half term

DT - Research - This week you will start your DT project by doing some research. Eventually I would like you to reuse something you no longer need and turn it into something useful for you or a member of your family to use. Look around the house at what you have that could be turned into something else e.g. shoe box, food packaging, old clothes, plant pot etc. Find 10 items around your house and think of what you could turn them into that might be useful to you or someone in your house. No need to decide which one you are going to choose yet, just let your imaginations run wild and think about what it could be turned into.
(Next week I will ask you to choose 1 and begin planning how you will turn it into something)

Picture News - Virtual Assembly 8th June

Story: As some children return to school, we think about how our routines have changed during this time.

Question: How important is it to have a routine?

Music - What are pulse and rhythm? Bitesize

RE Ongoing Task

We would like you to learn more about the Churches in your local area.
What are they called? How are they the same and how are they different?
Think about why they are special to some people. Talk to people who have been inside to find out more about what is the same and different inside and why that might be.
Can you work out what all or most Churches seem to have?
You could also research 1 or more of the Churches and find about their history
or even do some Art or DT work inspired by them.
