Wow Work
I've just got back from school and been overwhelmed by the brilliant quality of work that has been emailed to me today so I wanted to share some of it on the blog.
Here are Pippa and Ethan's Timelines for History. I love how clear and easy they are to read.
Zach and Pippa have been working on their art work. I love how much care they have taken with these.
Thank you everyone

How about a Hit the Button Challenge?
Choose number bonds that you need to learn, if you're not sure start at 10 and see how you get on
Number Bonds to 10
Number Bonds to 20
Number Bonds to 100
Play a game now and record your score then play the same game every day for a week.
What's the best score you get?
How much have you improved from your first score?
Grown ups can take part in this challenge too.
We'd love to hear how you get on.
Perhaps, once you are an expert you can move on to other number bonds or other important mental calculations which are helpful to know by heart

I have seen lots of Maths being done this week.
Here is Eva working hard on her fractions.
Then we have Pippa here using her work on fractions to help her to divide her flowers into thirds to put into the beautifully decorated vases, she has made. I love the way Pippa has taken her Maths work into real life and is having fun with it!
I have been having a sneaky peek at TT Rockstars this morning.
Well done to Jessica, Bailey, Harvey, Joshua, Ethan, Zach and Bobby, Eva, Lauren and Pippa who I can see have been working hard on their times tables this week. Keep it up!
If you haven't got on in yet, all you need to do is email me
(mrsburton2020@carlton-in-snaith.n-yorks.sch.uk)
and I'll let you know your username and password.
Garage is the game which has the times tables set by me
(the other games might be a bit tricky until they've learned more times tables)

Ethan's been working hard at home this week however somebody keeps distracting him.
Can you see who that might be?
Ethan's not the only one I've heard from, Jessica has sent me some of her work too. Here is her science work from last week. Jessica looked at the microhabitats in her garden, then enjoyed some time on her horse. (What do you mean it's not real?!)
Finally I wanted to show you some lovely art Eve has been doing. She has been painting animals on to stones and then hiding them for other people to find.

(These are 2 week units of work. There are a number of tasks to complete so please don't feel you need to rush these, these will be the English Tasks for next week too)
Spellings - suffix '-ness'
Use the grid above to create words. What do they think will happen to the words ending in y when the suffix -ness is added to the end of the word? Ask them to think back to when they added other suffixes to words ending in ‘y’, for example, copy, copier; happy, happily, happier, happiest. (y changes to i) Discuss what the words mean. Explain the suffix ‘-ness’ changes an adjective to a noun and means ‘the state of being’, for example, the state of being happy or sad. Children to write these in a list and learn them using techniques from school e.g. pyramids, in sentences, wrong and right spellings

Question: Are video games the next best thing to our real lives?
🌟Mrs Burton's Ongoing Project - Who is your hero?🌟
When I was in primary school I did a project all about my hero. It took me weeks! I learned lots of facts, made a booklet, drew and cut out pictures, and I can still remember facts about Gary Winston Lineker now! So it's your turn, choose someone who you admire, learn all about them, then show what you know in whatever way you want e.g scrapbook, PowerPoint, poster. This should be a project you work on over the next few weeks rather than complete in 1 session.

Poster about the Queen
If you want some ideas about how you can show what you have been learning just look at the poster Zach has made.
I love how he has worked so hard on each piece of work and then has put it together in such a creative way. His writing is so clear and easy to read.
I am really impressed.
I hope this will inspire others to take just as much pride in the work that they are producing.

Thank you for all the emails you've been sending me showing all your work.
Ethan emailed me and showed me the maths and story writing he has been doing. I loved reading his pirate story.
Here's Ruby, in all her sparkles, working on her spellings.
Thank you for the great attitudes you are showing to working at home. I'm so proud of you all!
I have really enjoyed all the emails I have received this week. I miss you all so much but when I hear what you've been up to or see your photos, it makes me smile. Here is Lauren, who I got to see earlier in the week, she has been busy showing her appreciation for the NHS. Look carefully at how she made the letters, she has been really using her computing skills.
If you haven't sent me an email yet, I'd love to hear from you!
(mrsburton2020@carlton-in-snaith.n-yorks.sch.uk)
Let me know what you've been up to and if you send me a photo I will put it on the blog so all your friends can see how well you are doing too!

Zach's writing
Look at how hard Zach is working on his handwriting and presentation!
Zach always has brilliant ideas when he is writing but sometimes he forgets to show his beautiful letter formation. Now he is 7 his handwriting is beautiful. I bet he could be a handwriting teacher to his younger brother now! I can't wait to see more writing when you do it Zach!
Joshua's Art
Just look at the wonderful observational drawing Joshua has done.
I know he took his time and really looked carefully at the plants he was drawing.
What great patience and perseverance shown!

Reslience
I have really enjoyed hearing about the work some children have been doing at home.
Here are Eve and Zach showing off their Maths skills.
It's not just been Maths, Eve and Pippa have also sent me wonderful pieces of writing they have done. I am particularly impressed with the resilience being shown, children keeping going even when they find it difficult and look at that proud face. Great attitudes! And don't forget if you need me I am here to help with anything or give tips on how to improve things. Just email and as long as I'm not at school I'll try to get straight back to you!

Use the following words:
station, fiction, motion, nation, section, education, foundation, competition, lotion, direction, fraction.
Ask child to clap and count the syllables in station: ‘sta’ / ‘tion’. Ask them to spell the first part and highlight that this is a word where the /eɪ/ phoneme is spelt with single letter ‘a’. Explain that the ending ‘–tion’ is a tricky one that is not spelt as it sounds. Ask if they know how it is spelt and write it down. Tell them there are other spellings of ‘–tion’ but that this is the most common. Chant the letters in the word. Rub out a letter each time they chant but reinforce chanting every letter. Can they spell the word when all the letters are rubbed out? Choose another word and repeat the process.
