Reading
'In the night' book for Mrs Burton's reading group to have a second read
Reading for Mrs Pemberton's group - this half term we will be focusing on comprehension, I would like the children to read the text at the top of each page and answer the questions below
English
I would like the children to box up the story so they can see how Dick Whittington is made up of a beginning, build up, problem, resolution and ending. Here is a blank boxing up grid which shows the different parts of a "change" story. The children don't need to write the whole story, just a few words/ phrases/sentences to show what part Dick Whittington links with each section.
Boxing up for Dick Whittington
Mrs Burton's Boxing up (for parents only if needed)
Once finished, children need to start to think about what parts of the Dick Whittington story we could change to make our own stories. Tomorrow, Mrs Burton will change just a few small things in the story for you to write about and then next week at school, the children will get the chance to make other changes to the story.
