Week 5 English Tasks (plus daily reading)

(These are 2 week units of work. Please continue to work through these. If you finish it early, why not choose a part of your writing to write up neatly or share it with me so I can give you some further things to work on)

A Tale of Two Feathers Comprehension (There are 3 levels of questions - the children should be working on either the 2 star or 3 star questions)

Spellings '- er' , '-est' and '-y'
When you add er, est and y to some words, you double the last letter (just like last week)
fat → fatter, fattest,
sad→ sadder, saddest
run → runny
Look at the paragraph below, can you spot the words that have had suffixes added to them so they have doubled the last letter?
The fattest bear hummed the saddest tune he knew as he was running up the hill. He clapped his hands, patted his head and then suddenly slipped and dropped his pot of runny honey.
The ____
___ bear _________ the ________tune he knew as he was _______ up the hill. He________ his hands, __________his head and then suddenly ________ and _______ his pot of ______ honey
Now can you add er and est to these words?
big →
thin →
wet →

Picture NewsPicture News Virtual Assembly 18th May

Story: An Italian architect designs a new way of living.
Question:  If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

🌟Mrs Burton's Ongoing Project - Who is your hero?🌟
When I was in primary school I did a project all about my hero. It took me weeks! I learned lots of facts, made a booklet, drew and cut out pictures, and I can still remember facts about Gary Winston Lineker now! So it's your turn, choose someone who you admire, learn all about them, then show what you know in whatever way you want e.g scrapbook, PowerPoint, poster. This should be a project you work on over the next few weeks rather than complete in 1 session.
